Samil Industrial, a member of the PlumpyField network, has inaugurated its new factory located in the Suez Canal free zone in Egypt. The inauguration took place in the presence of representatives of the Egyptian authorities, institutional and international partners, as well as the Nutriset Group and the Yagoub family.
The result of a joint investment between the Nutriset Group and the Yagoub Group, this new industrial facility is dedicated to the production of ready-to-use therapeutic foods, such as Plumpy’Nut®. These essential nutritional solutions are used in the treatment of severe acute malnutrition, particularly in emergency contexts and crisis-affected countries.
The establishment of this factory at the heart of a strategic logistics hub helps strengthen regional production capacity and improve rapid access to life-saving nutritional solutions. It also reflects the commitment of the PlumpyField network to develop local capacities, close to where needs are greatest, while promoting job creation and skills transfer.
This project is part of a broader effort focused on resilience and continuity. It follows the sudden destruction of the previous production site in Sudan, which had been a key link in the regional supply chain. Thanks to the rapid mobilization of partners, this new facility ensures continuity of operations and helps meet the urgent needs of vulnerable populations.
With this inauguration, Samil Industrial reaffirms its commitment to providing sustainable and accessible solutions to fight malnutrition, based on a model of local production supported by a strong international network.
