VAMP project: third harvest of high oleic peanuts in Guinea

At Groupe Nutriset, we fight malnutrition by providing ready-to-use therapeutic solutions (RUTF). But our commitment goes further: we support nutritional autonomy by promoting local sourcing of raw materials, with strong and sustainable socio-economic impacts.

Peanuts are one of the main ingredients in our Plumpy’Nut® product, like most of our nutritional solutions.

Thanks to the collaboration of Prof. Naveen Puppala of New Mexico State University (NMSU) and at the heart of the VAMP project, NutriGuinée is the very first member of the PlumpyField® network to experiment with peanut varieties with a high oleic acid content.

The result: a third consecutive successful harvest!

The next step is to analyse and evaluate the most suitable groundnut varieties, not only for their agronomic performance, but also to maximise the nutritional impact of our solutions.

Many thanks to the team at the Institut de Recherche Agronomique de Guinée (IRAG), in particular Dr Siba and Moussa Mara, for starting up and supporting these agronomic trials right through to the end, with a warm welcome for Monique Chan Huot and ISTOM students Eloïse Suissa and Jean-cosme Rouzaud.

The VAMP project is now being deployed in 7 countries where members of the PlumpyField® network are based.
