STA

Temporarily Out of Service Production Site

Founded in 2001. Member of the network since 2005.

STA, or Société de Transformation Alimentaire, was established with the acquisition of a semi-industrial unit from the NGO Caritas-Niger, which produced Bitamin, an infant flour used as a supplementary food for children from six months of age. The food crisis of 2005 facilitated the meeting of the two family businesses, making STA one of the very first members of the PlumpyField network.

Quickly, the production of the Plumpy® range of products began to support humanitarian actors on the ground, including UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and Médecins Sans Frontières, establishing STA as one of the largest agri-food players in Niger and the entire Sahelian region.

Today, as a significant driver of local social and economic development, STA manages its raw material supply from over 3,000 Nigerien farmers, with more than 5,000 tons of locally processed peanuts annually.

"

STA's approach is to support the population by developing nutritional solutions, as malnutrition is the main aggravating factor in diseases. We are particularly focused on manufacturing infant products for the most vulnerable age group, children aged 6 months to 5 years. Our creed is our commitment to health, and we are dedicated to supporting the progress of our country and, more broadly, the Sahelian region. We contribute to this by creating jobs and value for our clients, employees, and surrounding communities through income-generating activities (IGAs).
