On 6 July, Nutriset’s historic site in Malaunay had the honour of welcoming Ms Éléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, alongside representatives of the partners committed to working with the Nutriset Group, as well as Members of Parliament Gérard Leseul and Jean-Paul Lecoq.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase nearly 40 years of commitment to tackling malnutrition, through an insight into the Group’s activities, innovations, and scientific and industrial expertise developed in Normandy.
Since its creation, the Nutriset Group has been developing nutritional solutions designed to address the needs of the most vulnerable populations. Among these innovations is Plumpy’Nut®, the ready-to-use therapeutic food that has transformed the management of severe acute malnutrition among young children and whose 30th anniversary will be celebrated in 2026.
Since 2005, Nutriset Group solutions have contributed to the treatment of more than 155 million children worldwide. Yet malnutrition remains a global emergency: millions of children continue to be affected by hunger and nutritional deficiencies, in a context where humanitarian needs are increasing and resources dedicated to international aid are under pressure.
Together with its partners UNICEF, Action Santé Mondiale – Global Health Advocates (GHA), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the Eleanor Crook Foundation (ECF), the Nutriset Group delivered a shared message: nutrition must remain a major political priority and receive sustained attention on international agendas.
The discussions addressed several key issues: the role of nutrition in French and European international solidarity policies, the effectiveness of programmes implemented in the field, and the need to strengthen funding to meet the needs of affected populations.
Because nutrition lies at the intersection of multiple challenges — health, education, economic development and international cooperation — it is an essential lever for building sustainable solutions.
The presence of Ms Éléonore Caroit represents important recognition of the role played by the French ecosystem in international humanitarian responses. It also highlights the importance of dialogue between public institutions, humanitarian actors, international partners and committed companies.
For the Nutriset Group, this collaboration is essential to continuing to innovate, address constantly evolving needs and raise awareness of the challenges associated with malnutrition.
In this context, the next steps will involve continuing advocacy and awareness-raising efforts with elected representatives and government officials, in order to increase understanding of the impact of malnutrition on young children’s development and strengthen collective action around this major public health issue.
