SOFI 2025 Report

31 July 2025

In 2024, 673 million people faced hunger.
Yet hunger is rising in Africa and Western Asia, driven by conflict, economic shocks, and climate disruption.

The SOFI 2025 report makes it clear: “Funding remains far below the levels needed to transform agrifood systems”

This report is based on 2024 data only. It does not take into account the drastic cuts in international aid announced in 2025, which could have devastating humanitarian consequences for the most vulnerable populations.A study published earlier this month in The Lancet warns that these funding cuts could lead to up to 14 million additional deaths by 2030, including 4.5 million children under the age of five.
