Today, Equapharm, a member of the Nutriset Distribution Network as distributor in the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, organized an awareness raising event on malnutrition issues in the country. An event that included the donation of Nutriset products.

Held at the Congo Assistance foundation, the ceremony gathered a hundred participants representing the district and municipal public authorities, the main hospitals of Pointe-Noire, as well as many aid NGOs dedicated to children care and the fight against poverty, such as Caritas.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, the director of the Adolphe Cissé Hospital in Pointe-Noire to thank this donation of about 7 tons of Nutriset products ( Plumpy®, Enov®, ZinCfant® ranges and ReSoMal) which will strengthen the capacity of their services for the care of children with acute malnutrition, but also supplement pregnant and lactating women and children during the first 1000 days of life.

This initiative echoes the sensitization day of November 20, organized by UNICEF in Brazzaville to challenge parliamentarians on the fact that nutrition should be a priority for the country. Despite progress in reducing the prevalence of malnutrition in Congo, stunting (chronic malnutrition) affects 21.2% of children under five, 8.2% of whom suffer from wasting (acute malnutrition).
Ms. Antoinette Sassou N'Guesso, President of the Congo Assistance Foundation, represented for the occasion by Mrs. Brigitte Diop, encouraged the multiplication of actions to fight malnutrition, recalling that the President of the Republic of Congo had indicated it was a priority public health issue for the country.
Warm thanks were extended to the oil company Hemla E&P, represented by its Managing Director, Mr. Valentin Tchibota Goma, whose Social and Environmental Responsibility program made this donation possible.

As the exclusive distributor of Nutriset Distribution Network, Equapharm confirms, through this initiative, its active commitment and its positioning on the front line to take up, with local partners, the challenge of eradicating malnutrition in Congo-Brazzaville.
